How to check your Z/OS Version on Mainframe

 

ISPVCALL

ISPVCALL is a program written by the great Doug Nadel, this program writes information about your environment to a trace data set including

  •  OS version
  •  RACF version
  •  TSO Version
  •  JES Version
  •  CPU • Memory allocation
  •  The list of allocated DD names and data sets

and a hell lot more that you shall possibly not care about unless you are working for IBM doing ISPF programing

Invoking ISPVCALL – You can invoke ISPVCALL by typing e TSO ISPVCALL on any ISPF command line. The trace will run until you type TSO ISPVCALL again or until you exit ISPF. When you type TSO ISPVCALL the second time, the trace is automatically displayed.

 IPLINFO

Command Issue the “TSO IPLINFO” command from your command prompt to retrieve, this command will give you details of the last IPL or Initial program load (read initialization procedure that causes an operating system to start operations) along with the OS and JES version details

WHO

Type SD on you command line to navigate to SDSF primary option menu and issue the “WHO” command, this should return you some useful information like Terminal type , OS version , JES Name etc.
